On the first nerve of the cranium, my true love gave to me:
My sense olfactory.
II (Optic)
On the second nerve, the Optic, my true love gave to me:
Two, eyes a-looking,
One: a sense of smell, and this nerve’s completely sensory.
III (Oculomotor)
On the third nerve, the Oculomotor, my true love gave to me:
Three: cross-eyed glances,
Two: eyes a-looking,
One: smell, and this nerve’s motor only
IV (Trochlear)
On the forth nerve, the Trochlear, my true love gave to me:
Four: superior oblique eye movements,
Three: cross-eyed glances,
Two: eyes a-looking,
One: smell, and this nerve’s motor only
V (Trigeminal)
On the fifth nerve, the Trigeminal, my true love gave to me:
Mastication- temperature-and-pain
Four: superior oblique eye movements,
Three: cross-eyed glances,
Two: eyes a-looking,

VI (Abducens)
On the sixth nerve, the Abducens, my true love gave to me:
Six: sideways glances,

VII (Facial)
On the seventh nerve, the Facial, my true love gave to me:
Seven: funny faces,

VIII (Vestibulocochlear)
